Shiranui Akatsuki

The Shiranui Akatsuki from seed destiny, a series which I am not very much into but for the sake of the Seed Challenge, I forced myself to do this kit. But of all the kits, why this? Simple, a birthday present from friends and I just used this kit for the competition. If not, I doubt I will even think of buying any Seed or Destiny kits. The main problem in this kit is that it is gold plated, so I have to scrape away all the gold plating before starting to paint on the kit. It took me very long to scrape away the gold plated, longer then the time spent to fix up and paint this kit. After removing all the gold plating, many areas were uneven so I have to use a lot of putty to cover up the seam lines which where very obvious. Nothing much is done on the kit, only sharpening the antennae, and some parts of the helmet. Certain areas I had to use a penknife to carve out additional panel lines, like on the upper torso and the sides of the waist. If not, the overall look will be very plain.

Tamiya Paint used:

1. Gloss Red

2. Flat Yellow

3. Chrome Silver

4. Sky Blue

5. Gun Metal

6. Clear

The gold effect was done with mixing Gloss Red, Flat Yellow and Chrome Silver together to obtain a darker tone of gold. The red areas where done with mixing Gloss Red and Chrome Silver. The overall glossy effect was done with painting a layer of clear on the model itself to give a shiny effect. Tamiya Basic Putty was used for covering seam lines and a 0.1 pen was used for panel lining.
