XXXG-01SR Gundam Sandrock Ver.Ka
1/100 HG XXXG-01SR Gundam Sandrock Custom
2005 BAKAC Singapore Entry
This is my creation for the 2005 Singapore Gundam Competition, XXXG-01SR
Gundam Sandrock 'Kai'. Many areas had to be customized to make it look nicer and different from the old HG Sandrock Custom,
so I will go area by are on how I changed the certain the parts.
1. Head
The head color scheme was change to the Ver Ka color scheme, and I had
to make the Fin on top of the head a little flatter and lower as it seems a little too high and extreme. The 'tongue' was
lengthened with putty(can be seen from the photo in the link)
2. Upper Torso
The front chest was thickened with putty as it was too sharp so I had
to increase the thickness and make the front part flatter and look more heavily armored on the chest as the Sandrock is based
on heavily armored MS.
3. Arms
The pins for connecting the shoulder and the upper torso was removed and
shifted above the normal position, making the Sandrock look a little more menacing and strong(can be seen from the photo)
as my idea to make the Sandrock on the heavy armor basis. The shoulder armor was sanded to make it flat instead of the triangular
pattern. The hand manipulators were changed to the MG 1/100 Wing Gundam 0 Custom's addtional manipulators, which were meant
for the MG 1/100 Wing Gundam Ver Ka.
4. Lower Body
Nothing much had to be customized for the lower body, only that a lot
of areas like the legs have to be puttied and sanded to eveness and certain details were removed as they do not match the
mecha's appearance.
5. Heat Shortels
I added a little extra sword like thing to the Heat Shortels so it looks
more of a deadlier weapon compared to the original version.
6. Backpack
I painted it Nato Black and the boosters were painted with Gun Metal.
